Medical Director & Co-Founder
Dr Yasar Ahmad is a UK-trained General Practitioner, educator, and mentor with over a decade of frontline NHS experience. Having worked extensively as a Salaried and Sessional GP across Central Manchester, he combines clinical expertise with a passion for medical education, quality improvement, and supporting the next generation of doctors.
Throughout his career, Dr Ahmad has developed a strong reputation for excellence in chronic disease management, diabetes care, clinical governance, and medical training. As an experienced Clinical Supervisor and Primary Care Network Audit Lead, he has played a key role in improving patient outcomes through data-driven quality improvement initiatives, clinical leadership, and evidence-based practice.
A passionate advocate for International Medical Graduates (IMGs), Dr Ahmad is committed to helping doctors successfully transition into UK medical practice. Drawing upon his extensive NHS experience, he provides practical guidance on NHS systems, consultation skills, clinical reasoning, communication, and the realities of working safely and effectively within UK primary care. His teaching approach bridges the gap between passing exams and becoming a confident, competent clinician in the NHS.
Dr Ahmad has led and contributed to numerous service improvement projects, including anticoagulation safety programmes, prescribing optimisation initiatives, and chronic disease management pathways. His work in clinical audit and governance has supported enhanced patient safety, improved quality outcomes, and stronger adherence to national guidelines across primary care networks.
As an educator and mentor, he has supervised GP trainees, foundation doctors, and junior clinicians, helping them develop the knowledge, confidence, and professional skills required to thrive in UK healthcare. His special interests include consultation skills, medical education, diabetes care, chronic disease management, clinical leadership, and quality improvement.
Dr Ahmad holds a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from King’s College London, an MBBS, MRCGP, a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Practice, Management & Education, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Advancing Diabetes Care. He is fully registered with the General Medical Council.
Away from medicine, Dr Ahmad is a Nidan (2nd Dan) Black Belt Karate Instructor with over 30 years of coaching and mentoring experience. The discipline, leadership, and teaching skills developed through martial arts continue to influence his approach to education, professional development, and helping others achieve their full potential.
As Founder of Blue Scrubs Prep, Dr Ahmad’s mission is to empower International Medical Graduates with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed not only to succeed in PLAB and UK medical assessments, but to build rewarding and successful careers within the NHS.
